Kidstuff was created in June 2010 by local mum, Leigh Blows. With three young children of her own, she appreciated the problems of trying to buy and sell all the stuff you need, and subsequently accumulate, while raising a family.

Having tried various table-top sales, boot sales, online auction-sites, and the small ads, Leigh realised there was a need for people to be able to buy and sell their stuff in a truly local area, at any time, with with the convenience of the internet and card payments, but without the uncertainty of auctions, or all the hassle of the post.

So kidstuff.org.uk was born. The idea started life as a printed sheet of adverts, but it was obvious that information needed to be up-to-date all the time, and available whenever people had a moment to think about it. After a short-lived stage as a downloadable pdf file, the online shop came into being.

Leigh's general philosphy is to provide a service to local people (by providing an easy buying/selling option), to local child-related charities (through charitable donations from kidstuff.org.uk), and to local businesses (through the sponsorship scheme).
